TP-Link C425 Reviews

Useful, but not perfect

Features I like with the Tapo C425 security camera and A200 Solar Panel: 1) It is wireless and doesn't require an outlet to be plugged into. 2) The Solar Panel keeps the camera charged to 100% even when receiving sunlight for only 2 hours a day. 3) One can connect it to one's smartphone via the Tapo app to adjust settings. 4) Installation is easy. 5) Using the Tapo app for one's smartphone, users can opt to receive text messages alerting them to activity detected by the camera. 6) The frame rate of 25 fps records activity with a minimum of data loss. 7) An Internet connection is not required. One can purchase a microSDXC card, such as a SanDisk 128GB High Endurance UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card with SD Adapter, and store the images locally on the card. This helps when an Internet connection is not available or desired. Features I dislike: 1) There is a lag time between when an object appears in the field of view and when the unit starts recording. I have experimented with the sensitivity settings, but this didn't make a significant difference. 2) The image quality is acceptable, but not outstanding. I also have a Bushnell Core DS-4K No-Glow Trail Camera, which I think performs just as well. Either way, I'm happy with my purchase.

It's Great!!

I Bought This For My Front Door Because My Ring Doorbell Died. I Wanted Battery Powered, Because There Is No Easy Way To Get Power To The Camera. About Every Three Months, I Charge This Camera When It's Down To Like 70% Battery. The Thing Has A BIG Battery In It So It Will Last. It Has A REALLY Strong Magnetic Mount So It Won't Fall Off, But You Can Easily Just Grab It To Charge, And Easily Reposition For Framing. Of Course, Like All The Camera Companies, They Make Their Money On The Subscription Service So You Can Log In On Your Phone And Also It Stores The Videos In The Cloud In Case You Need Them For The Police. I Have To Say, The Tapo Service Is Way Better, Cheaper, And More Feature-rich Than Ring. The App Has A Lot Of Features And Ability To Customize What You Want It To Do And What You Don't. I Have It Set So I Get A Little Notice When It Detects People/vehicles. It Tells Me If It's A Vehicle Or A Person. Then I Can Open The App And Look Who It Is. It Has Never Once Notified Me Of Wildlife, In Spite Of The Turkeys That Wander Through Our Yard Every Day. (Meaning: It Doesn't Bother Me With Deer And Turkeys, Only People.) Unlike Ring, The App Connects Fast Enough That I Can Actually See It In Real Time When My Phone Dings. The Quality Of The Camera Is Very Good Including At Night. I Have A Wired Tapo C120 On My Garage (which Is Also Great) And The Two Of Them Are On One Account Keeping Me Updated On The Status Of The House. Totally Worth The Money, A Lot Of Security For Not Much Outlay And No Problems At All. Haven't Had A Single Issue Or Connection Problem Since I Installed Them. I Give This Camera And The Service/app Two Enthusiastic Thumbs Up.
