Using easy-to-load film holders, this daylight tank requires just 20 oz of solution for processing. It has integrated liquid level indicators to prevent under or overfilling, and its unique design promotes fast filling and draining. Stearman Press 645100 Reviews
Better Than Advertised
I read several reviews before purchasing and managed my expectations. My copy did not have any problems with sealing or excess manufacturing materials scraping the negs. It was easy to load the carriers but a little difficult to slot them in, working in a changing bag. If I had a legit darkroom to play it, that would not be a consideration. It's tight quarters in my changing bag most of the time with 4x5 so, maybe I need to take steps. Filling, draining, agitating, were all easy. It would be cool to have some kind of flow-through washing attachment like the Paterson film washer hose to streamline the washing process, but, then again, maybe I'm just lazy. I highly recommend this over the old school half-gallon tanks or wrestling 4x5s onto a spool. The only downside I can think of is that the body dries slower than the inserts.
Easy to load, works well
We prefer the Stearman to a converted 35mm tank, especially for loading inside a changing bag. Only caveat is the light baffle systen - after cleaning the tank, you must be careful to re-insert them in the tank in correct order/orientation or there will be light leaks.
