Simmod CF-IRUV-82 Overview

The 82mm UV IR Cut Filter from Simmod is an ultraviolet, infrared filter that blocks 88% of ultraviolet rays at 380 nanometers and 95% of infrared light waves at 700 nanometers. When used with multi-stop ND filters, potential infrared color shifts can be minimized for color accuracy. In broad daylight or other bright settings, this filter also reduces unwanted blue cast.

Made with 28 layers of multi-resistant coating, the glass is scratch-resistant and easy to clean. The slim ring design makes it compatible with wide-angle lenses with an equivalent width of a 17mm full-frame lens.

This filter is useful with CCD or CMOS sensors to filter out infrared pollution.

Great filter to eliminate UV/IR «ghosts». You will not see the difference with your eye!, but your camera will! It really blocks UV (trust me – I've checked it with 365nm!), and IR (trust me – I've checked it with near IR!), so your camera will not see the «ghosts» which are eroding contrast, and washing out colors. Water droplet forms an even dome, and skating over the surface without a trace. ⇒ great MRC coating! Brass frame, so it will not stuck on your lens. Due to the nature of thin film layered coating it looks different under different angles, making it... «lively», I presume? I really lke it! :) Are there cons? My sample has a [REALLY] minuscule imperfection... It's not a physical scratch, but a coating imperfection, and is visible only in a *narrow* range on angles... It's NOT affecting image quality!, and I'm NOT complaining! I'm mentioning it only to attract manufacturer's attention. Come on! No QC would ever find it! ONCE AGAIN: it's not affecting image quality in any way! Summary: BUY IT!
