For users who want to install their own HDD, I don't think the Synology 4TB BeeStation Personal Cloud NAS Server is going to be the best choice. Synology has a file management that can be installed on a computer and is able to retrieve information from the hard drive (provided that the hard drive is not the problematic part).

If the Synology 4TB BeeStation Personal Cloud NAS Server breaks down, the data will be lost. It is recommended to have backup redundancy by keeping your data stored in three separate instances, and at least one of those backups should be in a different location than the others (e.g. via a cloud storage service).
