Offers good protection

It protects the lens from accidental dings & scratches, makes it easier to handle in cold weather, offers some protection from rain, and makes the white lens less conspicuous to wildlife and would-be equipment thieves. So it does everything I need it to do.
Just barely worth it

I have a similar coat for the 70-200 and 200-600. They all fit really well. This one for the 300 is all over the place on the sizing of all the sleeve sections. Then they put a plastic covering where the switch’s are. I’m not really happy with it. But if it keeps the new 300 scratch free for a little while that’s the only thing that will make it worth it. Other than that it looks funky.
