Can this run off a standard camera battery - brick style?

No, the Litepanels Astra IP 1x1 Bi-Color LED Light Panel will need either a V-mount battery or a Gold mount battery for the light to turn on. It needs a higher amperage than the NP-F brick-style batteries.

What kind of battery does it need to run 1 hour?

To run the Litepanels Astra IP 1x1 Bi-Color LED Light Panel for about an hour you will need a plate like the Litepanels Battery Plate for Astra 1x1 LED Panel (V-Mount) B&H # LIABVMBP and Anton/Bauer Titon Micro 150 V-Mount Lithium-Ion Battery BH #ANTM1VMB.
