Chiaro Core CPL Filter Overview

The Core Circular Polarizing Filter from Chiaro combines high-quality optical glass with TrueHue Core optical film to provide vibrant color accuracy and enhanced contrast while minimizing reflections, glare, and landscape haze. Chiaro Core circular polarizing filters are constructed with glass manufactured by Schott, the industry leader in optical glass. This polarizing filter is enhanced with 16 layers of coating for protection against scratches, fingerprints, water, and dust.

The rotating ring allows precise adjustment of the filter's orientation to easily find the best angle to minimize reflections, glare, and haze for deeper colors like bluer skies and greener grass. Aluminum construction gives the filter ring a lightweight yet premium feel. The top knurling is easy to grasp for making fine adjustments regardless of the filter's angle, while the thin design avoids vignetting.

Circular Polarizer Filter
Chiaro's Core circular polarizing filter screws onto most lenses with 49mm front filter threads. It has a rotating ring that makes it easy to find the precise angle for ideal orientation with the sun and achieve the desired polarizing effect in your image. And you'll have the advantage of protecting your lens from dirt, dust, and scratches.
Minimize Reflections, Glare, and Haze
Use this circular polarizing filter to minimize unwanted light reflection off water, leaves, lawn, or pavement, and minimize the glare in landscape photos. With proper orientation, the filter provides deeper colors like bluer skies and greener grass.
Schott Optical Glass with TrueHue Optical Film
Chiaro's Core circular polarizing filters are made by Schott, the industry leader in manufacturing optical glass. This filter is treated evenly on both sides with TrueHue optical film for color accuracy. This filter also has 16 layers of anti-scratch, dust, oil, and water coating for excellent transmittance and protection against the elements.
Aluminum Ring with Top Knurling
The lightweight, quick-on, and easy-off rotating aluminum ring features top knurling that's easy to grip and adjust for finding the precise angle that gives your image the most vivid and lifelike hue.

Chiaro Core CPL Filter Reviews

95mm CPL

Great filter. Does exactly what I want. Don’t forget to purchase filter wrenches just in case for removal. They have very close tolerance. I haven’t used the wrenches yet on any of my filters. I just snug them up and rotate them in the clockwise direction for use and not to screw them off. A good habit to get into. When I need to remove them ,I easily rotate them counter clockwise and they come off with no problem. Enjoy your filters they work and make great photos.

I wish I bought the brass version

I bought the 77mm and 95mm versions for my 2 lenses, both in the aluminum frame. I'm an armature photographer and wanted a CPL filter. I was looking for something inexpensive, so I bought the less-expensive aluminum versions. The first time I put on the 77mm version (being sure not to cross-thread), I found that I could not remove the CPL filter. I tried everything I could think of (using a rubber gripper, etc). I finally had to resort to using a pair of pliers to unscrew the filter. Online searching for the problem indicated that a lubricant on the threads would help. Used a tiny bit of oil on my second use, but the filter still stuck and I had to use pliers to get it off again. I'm not sure how I would remove the filter in the field without a pair of pliers in my camera bag. Afterwards, I looked up the UV/Haze filters that I've had forever and go on and off the same lens without issue (and still do). I found they are B+W F-Pro 010, which have a brass frame. So, as the subject says, I wish I had spent the extra money to get the brass version of these CPL filters. I have returned the 95mm version unopened because my pliers do not open that wide. The 77mm version now has some paint scratches from the plyers, so I cannot return them. Because of the above issues, I have not really used the Chiaro CPL , so I cannot comment on it's effectiveness as a filter.
