An S-channel on the underside of the plate makes it easy to set up and break down shoots by allowing you to connect or disconnect the cable without having to remove the plate.

The Tether Tools TetherGuard LeverLock Plate is Arca-Type Compatible. So you have to replace the Quick Release (QR) plate of a compatible tripod with this plate. Alternatively, since the plate has a 1/4" 20 at the bottom, you can screw it on the tripod's QR plate.
