Plustek OpticFilm 120 Reviews

In house Pro Scanning

A scanner that does very well with slides, 35mm, and 120 film. Very easy to set up and connect to your computer. The SilverFast software has been simplified so you can scan without a large learning curve. A more in depth study of SiverFast is possible by following their many tutorials. This scanner is for pro's and serious hobbyists that use both 120 and 35mm media.

1990s way of initial set up

I have extensive experience with initial set up of scanners and MFDs. This scanner took me for a run to install the basic software. It was very confusing and by the time I was done setting it up, the interface looked like we are working with early or mid 1990s interface. Now the quality of the scans - I scanned only a couple of negatives. Results looked fine. I am going to work on scanning more depending on my time. Overall - initial set up is time consuming and terrible!

Where can we see full quality scans at 5300dpi ...

Where can we see full quality scans at 5300dpi and what is the file size of a raw 6x7 120 scan?
Asked by: Fabriccio
See my recent review on 8/30/26 with two examples of scans at 5,300 and 10,600 ppi, which has clips from the files to show detail. The doll image was scanned at 10.6K and the California Tower was scanned at 5.3K ppi. The detail images are close to what I uploaded, at least to my eye. The doll image (54x66 mm), scanned to 16-bit PSD format, at 2.65K ppi yielded a file of 232 MB, at 5.3K ppi got 804 MB and at 10.6K ppi came to 3.22 GB. The 2.65K file yielded a high quality JPG file around 8.5 MB. (8-bit file sizes are half the 16-bit file sizes.)
