A bit silly, with lens compatibility issues

The base plate is nice, but it can be purchased separately. The rotating mount itself seems like a silly design to me. It accomplishes the same thing as a simple L-plate, but in a bulkier, less convenient way. The ring on the mount completely blocks access to the aperture ring on some lenses, like the Zeiss Loxia 35/2, making it completely unusable with that lens, and likely many lenses in that line. The ring is also a very tight fit with some lenses: don't tighten it to the base plate until lens is in place, otherwise it will interfere if not aligned perfectly with the lens center. I even had to the pry out the blue plastic mount alignment indicator that protruded about a mm from the back of the lens, sacrificing lens aesthetics, to get it to fit. If altering a $600 lens to work with a $30 mount is your thing, then this is the product for you. The foot can be removed for easier handheld or horizontal-only use, but at that point you can just use a cage or bracket with a NATO rail and carry a NATO to Arca-type adapter for vertical shooting, which can be installed and removed a lot faster and takes up roughly the same amount of space as the foot. When attached to the base plate, the bottom of the ring assembly interferes a bit with Arca-type clamps used on the bottom plate (e.g. when using ring+foot for vertical shooting and the base plate for horizontal). The ones I tested still work, but the engagement isn't ideal in the front, and the plate doesn't sit level with the clamp. Not a huge issue if working with lighter setups that can be leveled as needed, but still something that could have been done better.
