Impact Grip Head Reviews
Not enough grip
This grip head is beefy and appears well-made. Unfortunately it didn't lock down tight enough on my 4x4 Advantage Grip collapsible frame using the 3/8 hole. The frame was able to spin with a light push, no matter how hard I cranked down the knob on the grip head. Interestingly, I have the older style impact grip head that came attached to a 40" grip arm, and it was able to lock down much better. Seems they increased the size of the hole and now the grip head makes contact with itself and prevents getting a good lock. Or I got a dud. Or maybe my 4x4 frame is slightly under typical 3/8 spec. Shame because as a solo videographer I like to save money where I can, but I bit the bullet and bought the Matthews grip head. It locks down much better and weighs a lot less too. B&H was great with the return/refund as usual.
Strong, Well-designed, Reliable
This Impact 2.5 Grip Head is a sturdy, no-nonsense piece of gear that gets the job done. I really like the large, rounded knobs. They make it easy and comfortable to tighten everything down securely with no slipping, even when supporting heavier accessories. It’s well-built, all metal, and feels rock solid in use. I’ve been using it with the Impact 20 grip arm on a heavy-duty light stand on wheels, and together they create a great make shift C-stand. It's a great combo when you need flexibility with your gear. The multiple mounting holes are perfect for a variety of accessories and rigs, and the textured friction disc gives you a reliable, secure hold every time. If you're piecing together a solid grip setup, this Impact grip head is a must-have item. It can come in handy all the time, and for the price, it is tough to beat [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review.]
