Blackmagic Design 8K Pro G2 Reviews

Great If It Fits!

We bought this to run our screens using ProPresenter at our church. I'm using the four SDI connectors to run 3 screens and 1 input. Blackmagic software is great once you get it running. We've learned if we're adding BMD products to our system, it's best to uninstall everything BMD and then reinstall. Same with this guy. Once permissions were enabled and restarts were done, this guy came to life and works great. If I have any complaints, it's that I bought a Sonnet PCIe external chassis and the double decker card won't fit. We pulled out the HDMI card and just installed the lower half. You might be able to make it work with a flex cable. We've ordered one, but haven't installed it yet. Overall, this is a great buy. Lots of juice for the money!

Can you do 4 inputs and one output? Will his work with OWC Mercury Helios 3S Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Expansion Solution which is x4?
Asked by: Ken
No, when using all the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2 Capture Card's four bidirectional SDI as inputs, you will not be able to create an output channel. The HDMI port shares I/O with channel #1. With all inputs being used as input signals, you will not be able to create an output via HDMI or SDI. Image of I/O: https://bhpho.to/4d6hTpD

Will this work in a Sonnet Echo Express SE III Thunderbolt 3 enclosure?
Asked by: Hammad
The Sonnet Echo SE I T5 (Thunderbolt 5) chassis allows you to connect One Full-height, Half-length+ PCIe Card (Plus Daughter Card), perfect for the Blackmagic Decklink 8k Pro G2 card. If your setup requires only SDI and no HDMI connections then you could remove the daughter card from the blackmagic 8K pro G2 and use it like the G1 version which was single width which fits in all Sonnet chassis expect for the Echo Express SEL. https://www.sonnettech.com/product/echo-se1-t5/overview.html

Can you do 5 inputs at the same time? Or do one of the SDI's get shut off when you use the HDMI?
Asked by: Nathaniel
The Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2 Capture Card can only support up to four inputs at one time, so you would not be able to use all five inputs at once.
