Dedicated to the Panasonic Lumix DC-GH7 mirrorless camera, the DMW-DCC18 DC Coupler is used to replace the internal battery and power the camera using AC power for longer, uninterrupted shooting sessions, specifically when the camera's USB-C port is being used. The separately available DMW-AC11 AC Power Adapter Cable is required for use with this DC coupler. The power adapter is required when recording to a USB SSD, and this coupler is required when the USB port is occupied.

The Panasonic DMW-DCC18 DC Coupler for DC-GH7 (B&H# PADMWDCC18) may only be used with the Panasonic USB-C AC Power Adapter and Cable for Select Cameras (B&H# PADMWAC11). While its port (i.e., USB-C) is a common one, the voltage and amperage supplied must conform with the manufacturer's requirements to allow the DC coupler to deliver appropriate power.

This adapter is designed specifically for use with the Panasonic USB-C AC Power Adapter and Cable for DC-GH7, BH #PADMWAC11. It is designed for the GH7 to use AC power when the USB-C port is being used for a purpose other than charging. We are not aware of how this will perform with a D-Tap to USB-C adapter.

The specifications of the Panasonic DMW-DCC18 DC Coupler for DC-GH7 do not list how it regulates power. In my experience, USB-C products do regulate their power when used with USB-C Power Delivery cables, USB-C PD power banks, or USB-C PD AC adapters. Panasonic only recommends using the Panasonic DMW-DCC18 DC Coupler with the Panasonic DMW-ACC11 AC Adapter.
