Great for the Price

This thing punches above its weight for sure. I think I got it at about 35 dollars. Which is about how much I'd pay for it again. I think it works well on first uses, isn't perfect by any means, but for the price, it's great. I would say that if you're looking for a replacement for the Manfrotto standard, this isn't quite it, it's meant for light things. I used it with an RX100 M2 and a godox it30 flash on top and that was probably the most it could handle. Mind you it was an unsteady clamp point on an already unsteady surface and after some reworking, it held, but it's not going to handle too too much. That said, for a thin and light continuous light or to put a small flash somewhere precarious, you're in luck.

Durable beyond its limits!

I chose the SmallRig magic arm over many other options because of its superior adjustability, and I haven't been disappointed! I wasn't sure exactly how much length I needed to mount my microphone in a proper position on my desk, so this has fit my needs perfectly. It did require a significant amount of fiddling to get it steady, but I am using a Blue Yeti microphone which is almost 4 times the advertised weight it supports. So far I have had zero issues - it has remained extremely steady. The materials and construction are really high quality!

Can you adjust the position without having to unlock and relock clamps? Such as for a viewing monitor - to lift up and down?
Asked by: Nesanel
It would depend on how tight the tension knobs are. The SmallRig Desktop Magic Arm with Crab-Style Clamp Kit can adjust the arms when the knobs are less rigid, and it is best to hold the arm plus the item mounted on the end securely when making adjustments.
