Remotely managed automated drone flights are now easier to achieve with the DJI Dock 2. This system is only compatible with the Matrice 3D or 3TD drone, housing it on location in a rugged base station that can handle the outdoor elements. Setup is now easier, as Dock 2 requires only two people to deploy and is 75% smaller and 68% lighter than the previous model. The Matrice can even help with deployment by letting you use its vision sensors to find the spot with the strongest GNSS reception. Takeoff, landing, and charging are all automatic, letting operators manage and view everything remotely, using a DJI FlightHub 2 and a variety of cloud-based features.
Environmental Monitoring System
While the Dock 2 is IP55-rated for resistance to dust and rain, it's important to know the exact conditions for a safe flight. DJI incorporates an environmental monitoring system into the Dock 2. Sensors detect rainfall, wind speed, temperature, and more.
Cloud-Based Efficiency
An assortment of cloud-based features, such as 3D modeling and route planning, help the Matrice have a successful mission after takeoff from the Dock 2. Its real-time weather data can work with online weather forecasting to send warnings to operators or outright terminate flights via DJI FlightHub 2.
Accurate Landing for Quick Charging
A camera on the Matrice and visual positioning markers on the Dock 2 help the drone automatically land. Sometimes, landings may be slightly off, which is why DJI incorporated dual slide ramps that let the Matrice slide into the perfect positions to recharge. Quick charging technology within the Dock 2 can recharge the drone from 20 to 90% capacity in approximately 32 minutes.
Dual-Camera Monitoring
An internal and an external fisheye camera are built into the Dock 2 for remote, real-time monitoring. The external camera is used to assess weather and other environmental conditions, and the internal camera is used to witness drone takeoffs and landings.
Quick Takeoff
Before takeoff, Dock 2 performs a complete propeller inspection and uses its dual RTK built-in antennas to give the Matrice immediate and accurate return-to-home location data. Even with these tasks, takeoff can be quickly performed in as little as 45 seconds.
Battery Backup
In case of a power outage during an operation, a built-in battery backup will provide power for over five hours, allowing the Matrice to safely return and land within the Dock 2.
Abnormal Condition Notifications
If any flight task fails or other emergency arises, Dock 2 will utilize DJI FlightHub 2 to immediately send email notifications to operators so they can view logs and troubleshoot the issue.
