The 8TB Purple 5460 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal Surveillance Hard Drive from WD is designed to withstand the stresses placed on it in a 24/7, always-on, high-definition surveillance system with 16 drive bays. With support for up to 64 high-definition surveillance cameras, this 8TB hard drive can hold a large amount of data and gives you the ability to easily upgrade and expand your security system. Furthermore, AllFrame technology helps improve video capturing and reduces errors, pixilation, and video interruptions that could happen in a video recorder system.

A SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, sustained data transfer speeds of up to 215 MB/s, and a 256MB cache all help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Furthermore, the drive's 300,000 load/unload cycles, annualized workload rating of 180TB per year, MTBF rating of 1 million hours, and <1 in 10 non-recoverable read errors per bit read also help to ensure a strong operational life.

The difference between the "retail" and "OEM" WD 6TB Purple SATA III 3.5" Internal Surveillance Hard Drive is that the retail version comes in a full retail box and packaging, while the OEM version is just a bare drive.
