Uniform Brightness
When activated, the ROG-exclusive Uniform Brightness setting within the OSD menu decreases peak brightness to keep levels consistent for better viewing, even when changing the size of bright white windows. I wish ASUS didn't put as much emphasis on the Gaming design of this monitor. I think that's what made me skip over this monitor initially. I was using a LG 34BL85C (3440 x 1440) monitor but was having difficulty reading smaller fonts. I first looked for a 32 inch 5k monitor so that I could drive it in retina mode and get around 92 ppi. No such monitor exists (Feb 2025). I decided to try this ASUS PG32UCDM, which would give me 70 ppi in retina mode. To my pleasant surprise, the PG32UCDM coupled with the BetterDisplay app offers multiple HiDPI resolutions which are not 2:1 but are really crisp (I'm currently using 2304 x 1296) giving me about 84 ppi, (much better for my older eyes)! Being OLED also helps for sure, the contrast is sooo much better than my old monitor. I can't comment on color calibration, since I'm not using it seriously for photo or video editing but for just viewing photos and watching movies, I don't notice any unpleasant color casts. I am so happy I got this monitor, it gives me excellent readability for text and works well for videos.
