Kodak Tri-X 400 35mm Reviews
Good film for cloudy days
By Douglas
Rated 5 out of 5

This is my go-to film for cloudy days or days when I'm expecting a lot of shadows. It works very well, it doesn't require a lot from the photographer when you're taking pictures to get good results. Using a Nikon F3 and a 50 mm lens, I did recently experiment with adding an orange filter and reducing the ISO from 400 to 200. That seemed to work very well, pictures were not too dark and had nice contrast with dark skies.

I have been using Tri-X since 1974. Over the years I have used many different types of film, but I always seem to come back to Tri-X.

When you develop Tri-X at home do your negatives ...
When you develop Tri-X at home do your negatives dry clear and flat, or pink/purplish with lateral curl?
When you develop Tri-X at home the film base should be clear. If the base is pink/ purplish the film was not in the fixer long enough, or the fixer is weak. Kodak Photo-Flo 200 Solution (16 oz), B&H # KOPF200P will prevent the film from curling.
