The 8 x 10 Fresnel Screen by Intrepid Camera is designed to brighten up your projected image to make focusing easier by rejecting any light that does not come from below the center of the screen. This is specifically helpful when utilizing a wide-angle lens. The Fresnel screen is mounted on top of a ground glass.

Clean and Clear
Defiantly improves overall brightness by 1 stop. Clarity is superb but must be used with a cloth or hood. Reflections are out of control without. Would be nice if antiglare was included in the mix. Beatie is better but just try and find one today in 8x10! Should have bought one 30 years ago.
Absolutely Great And VERY Bright
Perfect. Renders The Image Bright Enough To Make A Focus Cloth All But Un-needed. Makes Focusing Easier. It's A Piece Of Plastic, About 1/16 Inch Thick; Adds About Nothing To The Weight Of The Camera. True Confessions: This Clumsy Photog Easily Managed To Smash The Ground Glass On The Intrepid 8x10. Having Had The Same With A Previous 8x10, And Making Do By Attaching Dirty, Wide Transparent Packing Tape Across The Film Plane Of The Camera Back, It Occurred To Find A Plan B That Might Save The Day. Local Hardware, 3/32 In Lexan (polycarbonate) Sheet; Sanded On One Side With 12 Grit To Haze The Surface. This Combo With The Fresnel Lens Works Even Better Than The Glass Screen. At Least In My Book. The Rulings On The Original Glass Screen, In My Work, Are If Anything A Distraction. Better Without Them. The Plastic Probably Saves Another Ounce Or Too, As Well.
