Can this also be used as an L-bracket to mount the camera vertically on an Arca tripod WITHOUT attaching a separate Arca plate?
No, the SmallRig HawkLock Quick Release Camera Cage for Canon EOS R5 Mark II does not have an Arca-Type plate on either side of the cage, so it can not be used to mount the camera vertically unless you were to mount a separate plate to one of the sides.
