The 4-in-1 USB-C Hub from SmallRig is a compact solution for shooting professional video with your smartphone. A USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port supports data transfers at speeds up to 10 Gb/s, allowing SSDs to capture ProRes video at 4K/60p, while two USB-C 2.0 interfaces support microphones or earphones. There is also a USB-C PD port that supports device charging up to 100W using a separately sold power adapter, plus an integrated USB-C cable for connectivity with your host device. Also featured is a built-in cold shoe clamp so you can attach this hub to a cold shoe mount or clamp it to another device.

SmallRig 4598 Overview

The 4-in-1 USB-C Hub from SmallRig is a compact solution for shooting professional video with your smartphone. A USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port supports data transfers at speeds up to 10 Gb/s, allowing SSDs to capture ProRes video at 4K/60p, while two USB-C 2.0 interfaces support microphones or earphones. There is also a USB-C PD port that supports device charging up to 100W using a separately sold power adapter, plus an integrated USB-C cable for connectivity with your host device. Also featured is a built-in cold shoe clamp so you can attach this hub to a cold shoe mount or clamp it to another device.

Please note that when an SSD is connected to the hub, an external power supply must also be connected to the USB-C PD port. Your smartphone will not be able to simultaneously power the hub and SSD.

Game changing life saver. Worth the price. Phone cameras don't run all day with external devices plugged in until now. Now a battery or power source can be connected in addition to wireless mics etc. the clip is great allowing sliding on to a cold shoe for organized security.

The SmallRig 4-in-1 USB-C Hub, B&H # SM4598, can charge your iPad as long as there is a charger connected to the PD port; it will also allow the iPad to send or receive audio through an audio interface.

Can this also be used as an USB C port expander for a laptop? Ie could i use this to plug in multiple harddrives to a laptop?

The SmallRig 4-in-1 USB-C Hub, B&H # SM4598, could be used to connect multiple drives to a computer; however, only one of the ports is capable of 10 Gbps speeds; the other two ports are USB 2.0, which will give you very slow transfer speeds. A hub such as the Belkin 4-Port USB-C Hub, B&H # BEAVC018BTBK, would give you three 10 Gbps ports, which will give you much better transfer speeds.
