SmallRig 4888 Overview

Mount your monitor onto your camera or cage with this HawkLock Quick Release Monitor Support with H21 Cold Shoe Mount from SmallRig. The aluminum and stainless steel mount consists of a tilting hinge with a NATO clamp, a mini HawkLock NATO rail, and a shoe adapter.

The NATO rail mounts onto the bottom of the monitor using a 1/4"-20 screw, and it can quickly mount and unmount the monitor into the NATO clamp. Its HawkLock design provides secure mounting so the rail doesn't slide out. The shoe adapter attaches to a camera or cage shoe mount receiver. The hinge can tilt up to 140°, and it supports loads up to 5.1 lb.

The Tilt function does NOT handle up to 5.1lbs as Advertised

Having owned multiple Smallrig items over the years, I thought purchasing the quick release functionality for my video monitor would be a nice addition to my kit. However, the tilt capabilities of this item are simply not up to the described 5.1lb capacity as my 3.3 lb monitor with batteries flops down without being able to tighten it down any additional amount past what the thumb screw allows. Tried to find access to the hex screw to tighten it internally but, Smallrig has since decided that they do not want customers having access to that. The cap is no longer removable as it is on their pre-existing monitor swivel/tilt clamps. Oh well, back to the old Neewer version that holds the 3.3 lbs as described.

I use this for my Portkeys LH5P II. I love the quick release feature. It makes removing a monitor quick and easy.

Will the Nato Rail be able to mount onto a SmallHD 5in Monitor, with the security pins still in place?

The SmallRig HawkLock Quick Release Monitor Support with H21 Cold Shoe Mount will work with most SmallHD 5-inch monitors. But some older SmallHD monitors might not fit. It depends on the specific model.

Unfortunately, some NATO rails have extra space, so they are not all created equally as intended. Because of this, the SmallRig HawkLock Quick Release Monitor Support with H21 Cold Shoe Mount cannot hold "any" NATO rail.
