Flexible 4K Capture
The SDI and fiber-output Sony HDC-5500 2/3" 4K CMOS Global Shutter Broadcast Camera features ultrahigh bitrate transmission, simultaneous HDR and SDR, and a highly sensitive 4K CMOS sensor. Its global shutter eliminates "Jello" effects while delivering crisp images with extremely low noise, even in lower light. Please note that a separately available license is required for 4K.
4K CMOS Sensor with Global Shutter
The 2/3" 4K CMOS image sensor provides extremely high sensitivity with an impressive signal-to-noise ratio while its global shutter eliminates any "Jello" effect and banding noise, enabling stable image capture even with fast-moving subjects. Images are created with impressive 4K detail, high dynamic range, and support for the ITU-R BT.2020 wide color space.
Direct 4K Output
Direct 4K output enables you to use the lightweight HDC-5500 with a Steadicam or another stabilizer/gimbal system. This lack of a need for an external processor unit also saves space in your truck or studio rack system. Note that a separately available license is required for 4K.
Simultaneous HDR and SDR Production
The HDC-5500 supports Sony's acclaimed SR Live workflow, reducing the cost and complexity of simultaneous HDR and SDR production.
HDC Workflow
The HDC-5500 is compatible with a wide range of Sony HDC camera system accessories, including viewfinders, large lens adaptors, and camera control units. This shared workflow reduces training requirements and optimizes the use of your existing hardware inventory.
Optional High-Frame Rate License
- Capture sports or other fast-paced activity with an optional multi-speed license.
- High frames include 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8x speeds.
ARIA Lens Compatibility
ARIA (Automatic Restoration of Illumination Attenuation) for compatible lenses compensates for exposure ramping and peripheral light loss with compatible zoom lenses, making the HDC-5500 ideal for live production.
Focus Assistance
A viewfinder detail function lets you see focus details directly in the EVF. Focus Assist Indicator and advanced Focus Position Meter functions provide further focusing help.
ND and Color Correction Filters
Servo-controlled ND (neutral density) and CC (color correction) filters let you quickly adjust your exposure and look. These filters can be controlled directly on the camera or using a remote-control panel or master setup unit.
Trunk Data Transmission
Use the HDC-5500's LAN port and network trunk feature for high-speed data transmission between the camera and a CCU when using an IP-based setup.
Lightweight Ergonomic Design
A magnesium alloy body with carbon fiber-reinforced plastic panels gives the HDC-5500 strength while maintaining a light weight.
