Will this work with the Canon EVF-V70?

Will this work with the Canon EVF-V70?
Asked by: Josh
Canon has not announced compatibility with the EVF-70 EVF as of this moment. Currently the EVF-V70 connects by a UN-5 or UN-10 interface cable, the same as the LM-V1 and LM-V2 LCD monitors used with previous Cinema EOS cameras, and the EOS C400 connects to its LCD monitor with an MC-5U Monitor Cable, so there is a good chance the compatibility will depend on the interchangeability or adaptability between these two different interface cables.

Can more detailed info on dynamic range be provided? It seems this camera does not have DGO as in creating HDR each frame?
Asked by: Christopher
It's not DGO, but with triple based ISO it'll be a far better low light capable camera than any other in Canon's cinema line up... You just might need to do some noise reduction in post depending on exposure and other lighting factors. Think Sony fx6 with modern improvments and Canon's proven track record for making diehard field tested cinema cams. They claim 16 stops of DR, but that would be under optimal conditions, in most cases you'll probably be working with less usuable stops. However, in setups where you're pretty evenly exposed throughout the frame but have to contend with darker areas like shooting into a car for example, you can bump your base ISO to clean up the image, then exposed down to bring back your details in camera. That will give up some additional DR as usual, but it won't matter because you'll still be able to focus on exposing your highlights while maintaining detail in relatively noiseless blacks. This is has been a fun Sony trick for a long time and finally Canon made it happen. All in all, current tests put it about 1/2 a stop difference from the c70 and c300 mk3, with more noise when going over or under, but the ability to bump your iso means you'll be able to compensate without having to push either way so much in post. It's not as clean as having dual gain output, but won't effect your ability to make HDR content.

Can it do 4K DCI 23.98/24 without cropping the 6K sensor?
Asked by: Michael
Yes, the Canon EOS C400, can record 4K DCI 23.98/24p using the full 6K sensor readout with no crop, since all 4K modes are derived from full-sensor oversampling.
