Accessorize your camera's lens with the SmallRig F40 mini Follow Focus + Mini Matte Box Kit put together by B&H. This kit includes the F40 mini follow focus and a lite mini matte box. The follow focus includes a 15mm rod clamp and rod, A/B hard stops, marking ring, gear ring, and anti-slip knob. The matte box includes multiple adapter rings and a 4 x 5.65" filter tray; it accepts circular filters and is made from carbon fiber.

I guess I got lucky based on these other reviews. My unit immediately developed play within weeks of me using it, due to the mating surface of the handwheel to the rotating metal shaft being made of thin, flexible plastic. High torque will cause this piece to flex and weaken, eventually allowing a mm or two of rotational play in the mechanism. I can see this working long term with extremely low resistance lenses only, such as stills glass. Any higher torque application will eventually wear & damage this part.

Every Small rig product works well and is made well. The friction wheel does not work with my sigma lenses. But the provided Adjustable gear works very well. I tried the rubber gear belts made to be left on the lens. they did nor work at all. the gear teeth are too soft.

Does anyone know if the nato rail that comes with this follow focus can be used with the RED Komodo 6k top mount holes?

The mount that comes with the SmallRig F40 mini Follow Focus is designed for Smallrig cages. The top mounting points on the RED Komodo are 1/4 20. And the included 15 mm mount is 1/420, so it should work with your camera.

Does this fit the bolex 16 ,rex1-2 model?

The SmallRig F40 mini Follow Focus is designed to be a universal follow focus that can be used when mounted on 15mm rods with cinema, mirrorless or DSLR cameras. Considering the design of the Bolex 16 and the age of the camera, the follow focus would not be compatible.

The SmallRig F40 mini Follow Focus comes with a 0.8 MOD / 43T Gear that will mesh with the focus, zoom, and aperture rings of any cine lens such as the Fujinon cine lenses.
