We have been buying these for years but they keep cheapening them. Now it seems the noise canceling is not nearly as good as it used to be so we'll be looking for something different going forward. They also keep making the cord shorter and shorter from the original design, finally in this iteration it's too short for me. Same part number, different specs. not OK.

I purchased a few of these for students to use when doing a laboratory session and they had one or more lab partners that were remote (using Zoom). I do not know about the performance of the microphone. We use them with Dell PC's and they are plug-and-play with USB.

How do the controls work?

The only control is an in-line volume. At lease on a Mac, to use this product, you mush switch the system preferences to use it as your audio output. Then, the volume control affects the computer's overall volume. It's a little odd, not being just the headphones' volume, but since all of your sound is routed through the headset anyway, the end result is the same.
