The Vello Cold Shoe Extension does a fantastic job for my needs. Its 4-inch length still allows me to use a Godox Mini Shotgun mic alongside an Elvis on-camera monitor/recorder (both available from B&H, including at the SuperStore). The aluminum construction feels solid yet lightweight, and it doesn’t scratch easily. It features a 3/8" threaded male bolt with a 1/4"-20 female thread, giving you the option to mount it on a light stand or tripod instead of using the camera’s hot shoe. You can mount accessories horizontally from left to right or front to back, depending on your setup. Just attach the Vello shoe extension to your camera’s shoe mount first, then add your accessories. Overall, it does exactly what I need: I can easily load a video monitor, plus a mini shotgun mic, made of metal construction, lightweight design, and a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom.
