Aputure Quick Dome Overview

The Quick Dome 90 from Aputure is a a circular Bowens mount softbox featuring a parabolic design that pairs with the STORM, Electro Storm, and Light Storm fixtures. The softbox has a reflective silver interior and provides a soft, even light output.

A quick release latch on the speed ring allows users to quickly set up the tension on all 16 steel support rods in seconds, making installation a breeze. The lateral side handle provides easy mounting setup and control and comfort when mounting. When not in use, the softbox folds down flat, making it easy to store in the included carry bag.

I’ve been using another brand of modifiers for years and thinking what I had was as good as it got. After I tried Aputure, I realized there was something much better out there. The Quick Dome 90 let’s me set up on-location headshots much faster, the reflective material lining the dome is more flexible and durable and finally, the grid is bundled with the modifier and fits perfectly. It’s a win!

Good box but will need to be modified for older Aputure lights 300Dmii

We needed to replace our Light Dome II units because the metal tabs wouldn’t unlock (iykyk). I found these Quick Domes since the other Aputure softboxes were discontinued. A simple Bowens mount, right? Nope. We had a shoot the next day, and of course the boxes wouldn’t fit. The lip on the mounting ring where the dome attaches prevents the softbox from fully seating. I did find a workaround the next day. There are two rings near the element where the box mounts. You need to remove the outer ring that’s preventing the box from seating. The inner ring is smaller but will still lock the box into place. As far as I can tell, the outer ring appears to be decorative. Aputure CS was zero help.

Yes, the Aputure Quick Dome 90 is a Bowens Mount light modifier which will attach to the Aputure LS 1200d Pro LED which has a Bowens Mount.

Compatible with the Aputure LS 600c Pro II RGB LED Monolight?

The Aputure Quick Dome 90 will not work on the Aputure LS 600c Pro II RGB LED Monolight. The handle in this photo, https://bhpho.to/4u55ZFF, does not allow it to fit on most other lights but the STORM, Electro Storm, and Light Storm fixtures.

The design of the Aputure Quick Dome 90 prevents it from attaching properly on to the amaran 300c RGB LED Monolight. It is made to only work on the STORM, Electro Storm, and Light Storm fixtures. These are some options that will fit the amaran 300c, https://bhpho.to/4nFWMBi.

To use the Aputure Quick Dome 60 on the Aputure STORM 80c BLAIR-CG LED Monolight, you need the Aputure Mini ProLock to Bowens Mount Adapter for STORM 80c Monolight, BH #APMPBMAS80C (https://bhpho.to/4dvfdFw).

The Aputure Quick Dome 40 for STORM 80c is not a standard Bowens mount. It is a mini like Bowens mount and is only compatible with the Storm 80C light.
