Synology HAT3320 Plus Reviews

So far so good

Just purchased a DS1425 with 5 drive bays used in backing up a Plex movie server, 30,000+ photos over 30 years (using the Immich AI photo manager package available as a docker to run on the Synology), two PCs and one Apple laptop. After getting them all backed up over a week or so, I was left with 7.6TB of space on the 60TB array (SHR-1, btrfs). I've now added an extra drive and two 400GB caches, which btw take about 3 days to integrate into the cluster. So far everything has worked well. Having ChatGPT to help organize the whole thing, make suggestions on apps and configuration (particularly the Immich YAML config), and suggest command line and GUI checks has helped immensely. I'll have about 27TB available when completed, and I'm considering ordering another 20TB drive for use as a cold spare (since due to the AI datacenter build out, drive prices probably won't drop for 2-3 years, or until 50TB drives come out). Yes, they're a premium through Synology, and the Toshiba ones are noisy, but there's no issue with Synology helping with issues rather than finger pointing to another drive manufacturer. To me that's worth the money. Also, large drives are hard to find at the moment, so at least Synology (and B&H) has some in stock. B&H service is fantastic as usual, with fast delivery. Next step is to figure out a Topaz work process to update selected images on the NAS.

Another awesome order from B&H
