32.5MP Full-Frame Sensor and DIGIC X Processing
Built around a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor with a powerful DIGIC X image processor, the R6 V captures exceptionally sharp, low-noise imagery in a wide variety of high-quality video formats. The sensor's 6960 x 4640 resolution allows for 7K raw video recording, as well as 7K oversampling for 4K video with superior detail and color reproduction. Effective across a spectrum of different lighting scenarios, the R6 V has a native ISO range of 100 to 64,000 that is extendable to 50 to 102,400, with 15+ stops of dynamic range in Canon Log 2.
7K RAW Video Recording
With an expansive array of video resolutions and formats, the R6 V maximizes flexibility in post-production. Internal 7K30 open gate RAW and 7K60 RAW Light recording formats provide deep 12-bit color and razor-sharp detail, permitting advanced color grading and precise cropping in post without sacrificing quality. Custom Picture can be activated using the dedicated color button, allowing direct access to Canon Log 2, Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, Canon 709, BT.709, and 14 additional user-assignable profiles. Hybrid Functionality
Ideal for solo videographers, filmmakers, and photographers that require hybrid versatility, the R6 V retains many of the still-image-capturing abilities of its photo-focused counterpart, the R6 Mark III. Its electronic shutter allows for continuous shooting at up to 40 fps and features a Pre-Continuous Shooting mode that captures an additional 20 frames prior to the shutter button being fully pressed.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
Carried over from the EOS R6 Mark III, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system is a rapid, responsive, and precise focusing system for both stills and video. Engineered to recognize people, animals, vehicles, and more, this intelligent phase-detection system locks onto subjects and tracks them during movement. Advanced functions such as Register People Priority allow specific prioritization of subjects for unmatched accuracy.
Multiple autofocus settings for still images and video, including One-Shot, AI Focus, Servo, and Movie Servo AF
Phase-detection system with intelligent subject detection that recognizes people, animals, and vehicles
Register up to 10 people in-camera using photographs to prioritize them over other subjects in crowded scenes
Movie Servo AF offers cinematic focus pulls and customizable speed, sensitivity, and priority settings
Additional focus settings, including Eye Detect AF, Touch AF, and a variety of manual options with focus peaking
Comprehensive Image Stabilization
Featuring Coordinated Image Stabilization, the R6 V combines its In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) with optical IS in compatible Canon RF and RF-S lenses, creating a multifaceted stabilization system that corrects up to 7.5 stops of camera shake at the image center for smooth video and sharp stills. In addition to sensor-shift IS, the R6 V offers Movie Digital IS, a five-axis digital image stabilization function that moves the captured image across the CMOS imaging sensor to keep footage steady in highly unstable shooting scenarios.
Practical Design
Engineered for video capture, the R6 V sports a sleek, versatile body design that puts functionality first. A built-in active cooling system boosts continuous performance, while convenient physical controls and a vari-angle LCD with a rotating UI make camera configuration an intuitive experience.

This camera is just what I need for the work I do for my K-8 school. I mostly do video, but I also take some photos for our school website. The fact that it does Open Gate will be perfect for our social media posts. Couldn't be happier!
Fits all my (real) needs!

When the R6V was announced I didn't bother checking out the camera. I already have about 7 cameras and my R5C is the best one. I've had the R5C for almost 2 years - amazing camera. But we all have our specific needs. I shoot a lot of stock video. I like to capture 30-45 clips – so it was kind of a pain to only have running timecode and not have a traditional "record timer" that would show me how long I have been recording. I had the R5 before the R5C and I didn't realize how much I would miss the real IBIS. So I decided the give the R6V a shot (get it?). This camera is one of the few times I have been more excited after purchase than I was before. So many times I find myself excited about a camera, then I get it and the disappointments start. But not this time. Going from the 48mp of the R5C to the 38mp of the R6V has been inconsequential for me. I know that the R5C is a true cinema camera and a real hybrid but in the real world for me the R6V is the right combination of features. There may be some moments when I miss the EVF but again, for me I think that is more often a thing I "think" I need, rather than something I use often. I am glad Canon is listening to customers. The next challenging step for Canon will be how to integrate a larger screen without loosing the tactile layout on the rear. A bigger screen could force controls to be smaller. So overall, for me, I have to give this 5 stars. The footage is 90% of what the R5C can do. I personally still consider this a "hybrid" – for me anyway. The switch from video to photo is instant. Now, if Canon decided to add the 48mp sensor, an EVF and mechanical shutter to what the R6V already has that would be crazy and I would be interested. But for now I am super happy and this combo ticks all the boxes for my actual needs. I think I was actually avoiding using the R5C because of the lack of IBIS and record timer. Now the desire to grab my best camera (the R6V) and go shoot is back.
