32.5MP Full-Frame Sensor and DIGIC X Processing
Built around a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor with a powerful DIGIC X image processor, the R6 V captures exceptionally sharp, low-noise imagery in a wide variety of high-quality video formats. The sensor's 6960 x 4640 resolution allows for 7K raw video recording, as well as 7K oversampling for 4K video with superior detail and color reproduction. Effective across a spectrum of different lighting scenarios, the R6 V has a native ISO range of 100 to 64,000 that is extendable to 50 to 102,400, with 15+ stops of dynamic range in Canon Log 2.

With an expansive array of video resolutions and formats, the R6 V maximizes flexibility in post-production. Internal 7K30 open gate RAW and 7K60 RAW Light recording formats provide deep 12-bit color and razor-sharp detail, permitting advanced color grading and precise cropping in post without sacrificing quality. I was really excited for the Canon R6V. I ended up picking it up, I wanted something more nimble than my C70 to act as a B-cam and to fly it on a gimbal. Additionally, I wanted something that I could use handheld for weddings.
I come from the Panasonic system (S1, S5, GX85, GH2-5), and I was expecting to have some half decent IBIS results come out of the R6V, but the IBIS is almost unusable. I use manual lenses, I input my focal length every time I swap lenses. But still, when panning the IBIS over-compensates and the frame continues to move and then jerks back to the spot I landed. It makes panning impossible just about, and these aer just normal pans, not whip pans. Even when standing still, sometime there is slight micro jitter even shooting on 24mm, even when IBIS is on and the focal length is properly set.
You turn off IBIS and the camera is fantastic, great IQ, DR, frame rates, all that good stuff. But, one of the main reasons I bought this camera is the IBIS, but it's just about unusable, or at the very least, incredibly unreliable. It really does feel like this is a firmware issue, and I've made my thoughts clear to Canon support, but they aren't going to do anything.
I'll probably end up keeping it just because I want my cameras to decently match (C70 and R6V), but the S1 II is 10x better and well worth the 400 dollar markup.

I'm used to Canon's cinema cameras - I don't really shoot stills. I will admit there was a learning curve as I learned how to navigate the photo menus and dealt with the limitations of using a hybrid video camera -- BUT -- once I had everything dialed in, and the camera was rigged, I could focus on the most important thing: shooting video.
I filmed a three-day event with the R6V and never once needed to use the LCD screen. I set up my presets on C1, C2, and C3 -- as well as used the Q menu when needed. I shot a TON of footage, mostly at ISO6400 in a dark ballroom. And my long lens was a Canon RF 100-400mm --- not the fastest lens -- in fact, most was shot around f7 -- again at ISO6400.
And WOW - the footage was beautiful! I cannot express how impressive this footage looks for the conditions I was shooting in. It is vibrant, detailed, and looks "expensive."
Shooting in daylight conditions yields equally impressive footage. So yes, this really is a C50 for less money. Once you're rigged up and menus are set, the minor frustrations of learning a new menu system should melt away. For me, I need false color (which I've mapped to a button) and focus aids. Once I had everything mapped and set up, I was off and running.
My advice, if you're used to Canon cinema cams, is to take a day, watch some tutorials on settings, and really think through what you need without relying on the screen. And use the C1, C2, and C3 dials to save your presets.
Image is EVERYTHING -- and this camera more than delivers where it matters most.

The Canon EOS R6 V Mirrorless Camera does not have a timecode port, and there is not an option for timecode via USB-C. You can set timecode via the 3.5mm microphone input with the Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Single Set), BH #TETE1MK2.
