ASUS NUC 16 Edition 20 Overview

Battle the competition, explore fantastical worlds, and create quality content with the deceptively small ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 Mini Desktop Gaming Computer from ASUS. Designed to fit a variety of spaces while delivering exceptional performance, the ROG NUC is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus 24-Core processor, which features a dedicated NPU for AI workloads. It also delivers high frame rates and rich visuals with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU.

With 64GB of DDR5-6400 memory and a 2TB M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD, you can load and multitask demanding applications in a flash. Built-in Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) support and a 2.5G Ethernet port provide high-speed internet access for smooth 8K video and online gaming experiences. Use the rear-facing Thunderbolt 4 port to transfer up to 40 Gb/s. The front panel includes a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 port that works with up to 20 Gb/s devices. There are also a total of six USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports that can transfer large videos, photos, and other files with compatible devices at up to 10 Gb/s. You can stand the ROG NUC vertically to conserve space and maximize airflow for optimal performance. Windows 11 Home is preinstalled.

The Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor powers applications with eight Performance cores while 16 Efficient cores handle background tasks. The Performance cores have a base speed of 2.7 GHz and a Max Turbo frequency of 5.5 GHz. A dedicated NPU accelerates AI workloads with 13 TOPS.

The dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU delivers the performance you need for high frame rates and high resolution visuals for the latest games. Utilize real-time raytracing, DLSS 4, and AI features to make sure you get the most out of your gameplay.

Featuring a unified vapor chamber and three fans, the advanced cooling system quietly helps to maintain optimal performance during heavy loads.
Upgrade Ready
Two dual-channel DDR5-6400 CSO-DIMM slots are available, each supporting up to 64GB. For storage, there is one M.2 2280 PCIe 5.0 x4 and one M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.
Thunderbolt 4
Thunderbolt 4 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB-C connector and features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB4 at up to 20 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort allows you to connect either one 8K monitor or up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 4 port.
Network Connectivity
Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) support provides access to the less congested 6 GHz band with compatible wireless networks. The 2.5G Ethernet port provides a fast and reliable wired internet connection.

Windows 11 Home
Microsoft simplified the design and user experience with Windows 11. It has a modern, clean design with a new Start Menu position. Snap Layouts, Groups, and Desktops allow you to multitask with ease. Microsoft has also integrated some of their apps, such as Microsoft Teams. The redesigned Microsoft Store makes it easier to look for supported apps.

Yes I have a rig with desktop components and it has a 5090. No this will not give you desktop class power. But the laptop version of the 5090 plays any PC gaming 4k no issues. Is this expensive? Yes is it worth it? Maybe not. It takes a special type of person to get an item like this. It’s smaller than any console on the market which it taking direct shots at and no console on the next generation will touch it. Is it a buy? For someone like me yes.
