Designed for precision recording, the sE Electronics sE8 Supercardioid Microphone Capsule allows you to take advantage of the SE8 mic's interchangeable capsule design and replace the included capsule that comes with the omnidirectional and cardioid version of the mic. The supercardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture narrowly on sound sources directly in front of the microphone.
The sE8 capsule has been engineered to provide a balanced, transparent, and natural sound as well as a detailed transient response, making this hand-made, gold-sputtered capsule suitable for recording a wide variety of instruments.
When the capsule is paired with sE8 mic body (available separately), the resulting microphone delivers inherently low self-noise for meeting the demands of high-resolution digital recording. It also accommodates maximum SPLs high enough to handle drums and features a dynamic range large enough to record triple-piano to triple-forte velocities accurately.
The supercardioid pickup pattern in this version helps to narrowly focus audio capture directly on the sound source resulting in less bleed from other instruments and less feedback from sound reinforcement equipment.
With low self-noise and ultrahigh SPL capability, the sE8 supercardioid is well suited to a variety of applications:
