Nikon BS-1 reviews

BS-1 Hot-Shoe Cover is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 291.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Nikon has done it again! The BS-1 Hot-Shoe Cover is probably one of the most brilliantly engineered pieces of equipment to hit the market in a long time...It is no wonder that Nikon has decided to exclude this awesome accessory from it's newer DSLRs. Something this good, and this well constructed, surely commands a few extra dollars following a camera purchase... After a couple thousand dollars forked over for a D750, it is only natural that a hard-working and loyal customer would feel compelled to spend time and money to acquire this lil' gem! ... Thank you Nikon for providing us the opportunity to complete and to protect our systems. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple is the best If you have any kind of nikon camera, and need a cover for your hot-shoe. This is the answer. It is made by nikon for nikon camera. There is no mention about other brands' camera for its fit. So, if you have other brands besides Nikon, get one from those brands. But, if you have nikon, get it. No regret.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basic Safety Gave it a 5 because it fits and does exactly what it should do. But... can anyone explain why Nikon does not give this to you with the camera? What would it have cost them... five cents. Come on Nikon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from economical protection A very economical item that does provide some level of protection to the hot shoe area. It is very easy to misplace and lose due to its small size. It probably isn't a necessity to have since the new Nikon D810 cameras do not seem to come with one, however it does provide some degree of protection to dust and moisture. It could be better in that it could be made of a rubber material as the covers are on the D4 and similar level Nikon cameras. Still, I do feel it is better having one on than not. This was a replacement for the one I had on my D800e.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Shoe Cover This is great. It protects the electrical contacts and also protects the corners from catching on clothing and the like. And, it reduces glair to me from sun reflecting off the hot shoe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Make an Accessory Great for its intended use but that is not why I bought it. Instead of an eyepiece shield, which is unwieldy, I fastened a small piece of black felt to the cover. Now I have an eyepiece shield that I can flip out of the way to use the eyepiece or flip down to cover the eyepiece. I use the cover generally and for photographing youth sports outdoors. The camera is on a tripod and can only pan. Sighting along the lens is more than adequate and I have the benefit of a stereoscopic view of the action - makes it easier to anticipate peaks in the action.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should come standard with camera... Not a huge expense, but why doesn't this come standard with the D750? Oh well...worth the couple of $. Fits great and gives the camera a clean look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does its job. A $2 job. But it does it well. What can I say: it's a piece of plastic. Fits snuggly. Protects the hot shoe. It speaks more about the fact that the D810 doesn't come with one!
