Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boom Grip Head First off, this boom head is made by Avenger for Lastolite. This is the same head that comes with the Lastolite Skylite kits. I bought this head for use with the 80 Lastolite Umbrella Box. I lost the clamp that comes with the umbrella box so I needed a replacement. The diameter of the Skylite frame is the same as the Umbrella box so this head fits right on. The head itself can also be used for booms and allows you to tilt frames, booms or whatever you attach to it to any degree desired. Since the head is manufactured by Avenger, it is built to last. The only problem I have encountered is that the clamp is capable of pinching the umbrella or skylite frames, causing them to weaken/bend and possibly destroying them. Care must be used when tightening the clamp. There are also various boom or frame sizes that can be used with the clamp. I suggest getting this clamp if a normal grip clamp is too small for your needs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works but.... I have the Large Skylite Rapid kit. This grip head works , however what they dont tell you is that if you make the grip knuckle to tight, you can not get the knuckle off. You literally have to pry the knuckle off with a screw driver or something. And we are talking about a very thin threshold for tight. You can make it moderately tight (which most people will), and the knuckle will get stuck. Once you LEARN the perfect about of tightness, then the knuckle works very very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very solid product I have received Avenger branded grip for Lastolite skylite frame. Great product; solidly built from single piece of aluminium. Bolt and nut system is very smooth and sturdy. ... Looks like will last long. The only complaint is this grip does not fit tightly on the panel frame even at full tight condition ... its slightly loose and the panel frame slowly slips down.... I have glued small pieces of high tensile stengrth rubber sheet over both the pieces inside the grip ... now it is super strong grip ... no question of slipping out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Better Than Scotch Tape You need this to hold up the Skylite diffusion screen as it gets pretty unwieldy. Heavy too. These work well without excessive tightening. But I think the price tag is a bit high. At this price these should be made out of titanium. You have to have 2, so you may as well bite the bullet and get it over with. At least B&H provides the highest customer service coupled with competitive prices. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built This is a solid chunk of gear. I use this with my Lastolite Skylite Rapid (small) and it holds very securely. If you own a Skylite Rapid and a light stand then definitely get this. I would easily buy another when I eventually buy a another Skylite Rapid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid grip head I've used Matthews grip heads and this grip is on par with regards to build quality. As all grip heads, it is very simple to use and and holds my large skylight with no issues. This is definitely a worthy investment which will last a lifetime, and beyond!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets it done Use it to hold up my large Lastolite diffuser. Heavy duty and holds like a rock. Spendy but it's a lifetime investment. I'll own it for the next 30 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and Reliable I use two of these units to pivot the Skylite reflector. They are easy to use, they last and allow for accurate and secure positioning.
