Rycote Classic Softies provide optimum wind diffusion and noise rejection while remaining cost effective. This softie features a standard size hole and measures 4.7" long. The softie will fit microphones with diameters from 0.7 to 0.8" / 19 to 22mm. This Softie is also a perfect fit for the Schoeps CMIT 5U.

Perfect fit for Diety S-Mic 2S in terms of interference tube coverage, but with caveats. However, the S-Mic 2S body is so short, that the Softie doesn't leave much length left for either the stock mount or a small shock mount. Not a problem if you can utilize the XLR connector as an extension of the S-Mic 2S. Short shock mounts might struggle with the extra weight of the Softie on the front and cause the mic to dip downward enough to cause the rear rubber gasket of the Softie to make contact with the shock mount itself. Can be alleviated however if the XLR connector provides enough extra body length to slide the mic and Softie forward enough in the mount. The dipping problem of course doesn't exist with a solid mount. Just some food for thought. As for performance, this type of wind-screen can muffle some of the higher frequencies which is to be expected, as opposed to the Super Softie which is more transparent. However, reviews here and around the net seem to suggest the classic as a reliable basic wind screen for most outdoor applications including wetter conditions where absolute transparency isn't crucial, and stepping up to a blimp for anything else that requires max performance in all conditions. There is an extensive video review on YT that shows the effects of water on the Classic and Super, and the Classic has the clear edge. A blimp would beat both. More food for thought.
