Rycote 033042 reviews

Standard Hole Softie Windscreen with 19-22mm (0.74-0.87") Hole Size is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great job in moderate wind I purchased this softie to go over my Rode NTG-2 shotgun microphone. In a moderate wind it did a wonderful job of removing windnoise from my recordings enabling me to shoot in sub-optimal weather conditions. I wish the rubber seal had the correct thickness so I could screw it onto my NTG-2 (It has a thread around the barrel), as opposed to pulling it on and it sticking in the grooves of the shotgun as it's put on, sometimes removing a bit of the rubber in the process. That said, it's easy to put over your mic, seals nice and tight and isn't too heavy so I can use it on a camera mounted shockmount with standard bands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointingly Ineffective I use this on an Audio-Technica BP4029. It's a tight fit, but otherwise it's the right size. I will admit that it works better than the foam windscreen supplied with my microphone. However, I am disappointed in how ineffective it is. I've tried to use it outdoors when it doesn't seem windy, and I still get wind rumble. Perhaps I'm spoiled comparing it to a full blimp-style windscreen, but I don't even bother trying to use this one anymore. Mounted on my Canon XA10 camera, the windscreen appears in frame when zoomed all the way out. The foam windscreen supplied with the microphone does not do this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good piece of equipment for cutting down wind noise Somehow the box said it would be 15 cm long, but it was 18 cm long. Didn't notice it right away so I'll keep it. I would say it does its job although it obviously does not cut out all the wind, but it reduces it substantially. A bit pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with it I use this on an audiotechinca 897 shotgun, mostly for dslr video recording. It really does the job well. It loses some fur, but it is minimal. One reviewer said that that sliding this windscreen on his shotgun mic is difficult and that it made him fear his mic would get damaged. I did not find that to be true. The windscreen fits nice and tight and it slides onto my mic smoothly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As usual, great product from Rycote This softie fits a lot of shotguns, which is nice when you have more than 1 you need to work with depending on the job (I work with 3). Solid product from Rycote, lightweight and cuts a good deal of wind when outside, protects the mic from sand and snow to a certain degree. Expensive compared to other manufacturers, that's why I gave it 4 stars, but it's well worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good balance Good balance between size, weight and wind reduction. Won't solve every wind problem, so important to have more than one tool in the tool box. But this will be main tool and I use it 90% of the time. You can tak a leg of panty hose and slide over the shotgun before adding softie to add a little more reduction. Used with AT 835ST in mid-side mode. 57 grams / 2 oz weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good upgrade I was using the $20 windscreen for my Audio Technica AT897 and it was okay for minimal wind. But at college, we have large gusts of wind and the screen was proving to be a pain in my butt, allowing wind noise to seep through to my audio. I bought this and am totally satisfied with my purchase. It blocks out wind noise like a boss. Highly recommend it.
