Still a great choice

I bought this to replace my original Softie, which lasted through 20 years of abuse. Based on reviews here, I chose it over newer options. Great wind protection.

Disappointingly Ineffective

I use this on an Audio-Technica BP4029. It's a tight fit, but otherwise it's the right size. I will admit that it works better than the foam windscreen supplied with my microphone. However, I am disappointed in how ineffective it is. I've tried to use it outdoors when it doesn't seem windy, and I still get wind rumble. Perhaps I'm spoiled comparing it to a full blimp-style windscreen, but I don't even bother trying to use this one anymore. Mounted on my Canon XA10 camera, the windscreen appears in frame when zoomed all the way out. The foam windscreen supplied with the microphone does not do this.

Good piece of equipment for cutting down wind noise

Somehow the box said it would be 15 cm long, but it was 18 cm long. Didn't notice it right away so I'll keep it. I would say it does its job although it obviously does not cut out all the wind, but it reduces it substantially. A bit pricey.

I made the mistake of trying to get away with a generic brand wind screen for my boom microphones- it was a big mistake! These work perfectly, fit perfectly and hold up under professional working conditions. Don't even think about it, just buy it- you won't look back!

Great windcutter for a shotgun mic

I affix this guy to my Senheisser shotgun and tested it. It removed all the wind noise that would have crippled my audio otherwise. It's a tad pricey for a deadcat, but it works great.

I would buy this product again and again

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but my sennheiser will pick up wind that I can barely even feel on my skin and this softie seems to amplify it. Virtually useless once I step outside which is where I shoot most of the time. Really dissapointed.

question

Is the 15 cm length the inside depth of the hole or the overall exterior length of the windscreen?
Asked by: Robert
Hi Robert. It's the bore length (i.e. internal hole length).
