question

Can I use this dimmer with very low wattage lights? I have a string of outdoor globe lights using 50 (2 string of 25-bulbs connected together) 5W G40 bulbs.
Asked by: Hogan C.
Most dimmers like these will cut out when the power gets too low.The manufacture does not list that information. And most do not.Dimmers like these are for higher wattage lights so that is usually not an issue.

question

Can I use this with a LED light bulb? Polaroid Lighting PLPAR38W-150.2200. 120v 30 watts
Asked by: Philip
We've used with Impact EMD Lamp (750W, 120V) and it does just fine. I would recommend getting the three prong input version of this, we have to use a converter from three to two prong.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/755346-REG/Impact_D_1000_D1000_1_000W_AC_Dimmer.html/prm/alsVwDtl

question

can I use on a lamp that requires 120v?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it is rated for 120V AC. I use it on 300W and 600W tungsten lights. I found it doesnt work well on LED household bulbs that are rated dimmable. Its stable to about 70% before the bulb goes dark.

question

Does anyone know if I can get away with using this dimmer on a 650 watt Arri light? I find that I am able to use a 250 Watt dimmer on the Arri 300. Of course, I always use a 1,000 watt dimmer on my Arri 1K. I know this dimmer is rated at 600. Just wondering on this one...
Asked by: Brad
Brad, I tried two of these on 600 Watt Quartz Smith-Victor lights and both dimmers failed immediately and had to be returned to B&H. So I don't think they are quite up to par.
