    Canon NP-E3 reviews

    NP-E3 NiMH Battery (12v 1650mAh) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 145.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like having a new camera For almost a year I've been while waiting for Canon to get it's act together with their new eos 1Dx body so I could replace my aging eos 1Ds Mark II. While I love this ol' tank of a camera body, its' batteries were no longer holding a charge and increasingly I was using other camera bodies for important shoots. After waiting for months for Canon to make the 1Dx available I decided to just replace one of the batteries for the eos 1Ds Mark II. Since doing so I've been kicking myself for not doing so earlier. I had forgotten what a joy and great camera the eos 1Ds Mark II is!! I ordered a second NP-E3 NiMH Battery from B&H and have cancelled my order for the 1Dx.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tight fit. Beware. If you want a reliable battery for your Canon camera, look no further than the NP-E3. There is no reliable substitute. However, due to the tightness of the battery fit and subsequent need to use a little more force than what should be necessary to install the battery in your camera, be careful not break off the locking tab. This happened with my previous Canon NP-E3 battery. It wasn't the end of the world as I was able to still lock the battery in place using the detached tab. It just meant that I had to use sticky tape over the tab to prevent from losing it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should have purchased this first time... I bought a Pearstone battery hoping to not have to pay Canon's price. That said, when I got the battery and tried to charge it, the charger connector was loose in the socket of the battery and wouldn't even connect properly. The original Canon battery that came with the camera works fine and charges fine but I wanted a backup. What a disappointment since it was so much cheaper and others have had luck with the Pearstone brand. Sent it back (easy return - thanks BHPhoto) and spent for Canon's own battery. I received it and no problem connecting to the charger (fit snug) and no problems charging. 5 stars if it had been somewhat less expensive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Battery somewhat disappointing As a professional - My original Canon battery lasted thousands of shots over many years. I was happy to see they were still being offered when my original battery finally failed. When my new battery arrived I followed the directions super carefully. After using for only a month I find that it dies rather quickly. I tried everything. I still use it, however I can't depend on it for very long. I may have just got a bad one, so my advice is to check it out carefully when purchased so you can return it within the proper time table if you receive a bad one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon NP-E3 battery Purchased this to have a back-up for my 1dsMKii. Product fits securely in camera and maintains the OE weatherproofing. Can't compare battery life to aftermarket versions as I only have OE Canon batteries for this camera. Charges within times indicated in owners manual and performs as well if not better than run times listed in specifications. Had to knock off a star for the price (it's the same everywhere so not an issue with B&H or any other retailer). Kind of dated battery technology to still command such a premium from Canon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consider rebuilding you old pack There is nothing like the Original Canon Battery pack. Consider that there are many Generic substitutes out there also. Many of the Generic battery packs have 2000mAh or 2200mAh compared to the Factory 1650mAh battery packs. The thing to consider is that the hardware that attaches the battery to your camera is often cheaply made. But you can exchange this piece from your Factory Canon Battery. The other option is that you can also take the battery to a battery store and you can get it rebuilt with 2400mAh or 2700mAh batteries The battery pack contains 10 1.2V cells, and they can be replaced. Don't get stuck with dead batteries...they are a life saver...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power source to an ageing camera My EOS 1 Ds MkII is an old camera by today's standards but it still produces suberb images compared to many contemporary cameras. The batteries that I bought almost 6 years ago are finally dead after not so intense use. I had a no-name spare battery but I thought I could not rely on it so I bought a pair of fresh batteries for my old camera. I believe they will serve me for another good 5 years. After that I do not know if old batteries will still be available. May be I should have bought 4 instead of 2. If you are intending to use your old camera for years to come, buy spare batteries but the original brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MR RELIABLE!! i'v notice lately, why my focusing is slow. Only after the fact tallying all images taken at a afternoon game & a evening game w/flash included with a single charge prior to leaving my home. It was over 1100 iamges at the two game event. Even thou i had a backup with me i never wanted to put a fresh one in. I wanted to see if this battery can finish the two event games, afternoon/night game. this battery made it through with a single bar on the indicator. However, for the sake of action sports always have fresh set of batteries. It just confirms my notion it can make it through 1000+shots at an event.
