This Photoflex Speed Ring is a Series 9000 speed ring that allows mounting of a Photoflex or any other manufacturers' Octagonal or rectangular softbox to a Paul Buff White Lightning Ultra, Ultra Zap, Alien Bees, or X Series monolight. (Identical to Balcar adapter).

This is an aluminum, heat-resistant ring that allows any softbox to freely rotate. For larger softboxes, order: #ACALSWMTB, which helps to redistribute the weight from your fixture to the bracket.

Speed Ring Octo Connector for Paul Buff Monolights is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only because no alternative exists I use this ring predominantly for my 5' diameter photoflex octobox on PCB Einsteins. This ring does not fasten as securely as it should, nor as securely as PCB brand light modifiers do. That said, I still want to use it with my photoflex boxes. We've had many instances where moving the box around has resulted in the speed ring slipping off the Einstein, taking with it the frosted glass covering the strobe bulb shattering into 1,000 pieces on the floor. Thankfully the glass is cheap and easy to replace, but still a PITA. The folks at Photoflex informed me that this ring is the best option available. Seems sad to me and I wish someone would make one that works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I would purchase again. The product works as advertised; actually easier to get the soft box rods in than with my old Speedotron rings. I was concerned about some reviews indicating the Einstein ring attachment was not always secure so I drilled a small hole in the Octo connector to attach an aluminum rod that fits into the Einstein umbrella holder. I'm confident my softbox will not separate from the Einstein.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use your existing boxes! I already have a series of soft boxes. I do not like Paul Buffs built in speeding with the box. Too bulky and you need to remove the front face every time you collapse it. This ring allows me to use any existing boxes that I have and keep the system small and compact in transit. The ring is lightweight and easy to attach. If you want Buff lights and already own boxes, buy this ring!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, simple, speedring. Nothing fancy. We use it to attach our Photoflex softbox to our White Lightning 1200 monolight. It fits well and performs as designed. I wish the design had included better balancing, as the large Photoflex softbox is HEAVY and makes aiming this thing a two-handed wrestling match. Other than that (which is just how it's designed), it works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well I bought this to attach a Photoflex softbox to my White Lightning strobes, and it does the trick. I'm please with the build quality, and it's easy to use. So glad I found one that fit - I'm enjoying having another softbox option!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid build quality I use this speed ring for my Paul C Buff strobes attached to Photoflex softboxes and it fits perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised at how light it was, yet the construction of the speed ring is absolutely rock solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with rectagular or octabox I would highly recommend this to anyone who owns Paul Buff/White Lightning products for use with Photoflex softboxes. Works equally well with the standard rectangular softbox and the eight sided softbox.
