Key Features
  • For Recording, Live Sound & Broadcast
  • For Instrument & Vocal Pickup
  • Includes Windscreen & Mic Clip
  • Foam Lined Wooden Case
The SCX1-HC Studio Condenser Microphone from Audix offers a versatile condenser microphone system that can be used for vocal, general instrument, and ambiance capturing applications. When used near monitors and speakers, the hypercardioid polar pattern provides maximum signal rejection at the off-axis sections of the microphone head, providing a low noise floor and high gain-before-feedback response. Transformerless circuitry and surface mount technology provide a compact profile and quiet signal response with a low noise floor. The microphone's high sensitivity and wide frequency response are suitable for use with vocals, guitar, strings, drums, percussion, overhead cymbals, and similar sounds. A high SPL rating of 130 dB enables the capsule to accurately pick up transient (peaking) signal without noise caused by distortion overload. The package includes an external foam windscreen for reducing wind, sibilance, and pop noise, a nylon molded snap-on clip, and a foam lined wooden case.

To keep out of my shot, how far away can this be placed from the subject? For a one person indoor interview.
Asked by: Alexis
Hi Alexis, this distance will vary with the room acoustics and the rest of the signal chain. 5' would certainly be the max and 2'-3' would be preferable. Cheers, The Brit. :)

Are these capsules interchangeable with Audix's micro series of microphones?
Asked by: Tyrone
Hi Tyrone, The capsules on the Audix SCX1 mics are a different diameter to the Audix Micro series so are not interchangeable. The Audix Micro series does have field replaceable capsules in cardioid, hyper-cardioid and omni versions.

question

Would this mic work ok for streaming? I'd like to not have the mic on screen and be able to move my head a little. Also would it pick up a lot of the speaker audio? I don't want to use headphones if I can get away with it.
Asked by: Tristen G.
I can't imagine a problem with streaming. As for picking up your monitor audio, that's a bit tricky to answer without seeing your recording space. I'm guessing that some noise reduction to reduce your monitor audio bouncing back and having the monitors behind the mic should result in a clean sound without picking up the monitors... but this would be true for any mic that's not omnidirectional. We use this mic at about 3 feet from two people talking and it's awesome... we don't use the monitor. If money's not a limiting factor, this mic also has different heads that support different patterns..
