Can I located the stands on stairs ?? I'm not sure if this could be possible thanks.
Yes, the Avenger Sliding Leg C-Stand (Chrome-plated, 10.75'), B&H # AVA2033L, is great on stairs and uneven terrain.

I'm looking for a stand that will hold my Alien Bees + light box and take up less room in my studio. The all purposed air-cushioned regular light stands take up much of my floor space in my current set up. Is this better for small space?
This C-stand would be better for space since you can prop the legs against the wall.

question
This C stand seems identical to the 9.8' Avenger C-Stand but has a sliding leg and has more height. Why is it cheaper?
While I do not set pricing and I can only state the pricing listed on our website shows our lowest available pricing for the items we carry, I will state that the discrepancy in price is the same as on the manufacturer's/distributor's own website. On the shorter 9.8' stand, the base is built onto the stand (not removable), but it has a sliding leg to accommodate the stand on uneven surfaces. The taller stand has a removable turtle base and separate center column, including its extra height. On all authorized dealer's websites, the 9.8' sliding leg C-stand would be higher in price compared to the taller removable base 10.75' C-stand.

question
What transport case is recommended for these since the legs don't detach?
Each C stand is shipped in a box that's about 5 1/2 feet long. You'd have to find something at least 6 feet long and about 2 feet wide to cary 2 of them in. I don't think such a bag is available. You cannot disassemble it enough to have it fit into a reasonable sized carry case. I have to carry mine in the back of my SUV, and they take up have of the space. I know of no bag you can purchase for these. I use a small landscape wagon I bought from Home Depot. It has the weight capacity to hold two stands easily. Such a wagon is very easy to navigate to and from shooting locations, but it too takes up a lot of space. The landscape wagon is what I would suggest to help you transport the Cstands. They are definitely worth the money. They will hold up to any size job.

question
What adapters would this stand need to attach a speedlight and a small octobox (26 ) on the arm?
If the 26 softbox does not have a stand mount on its speed ring, then you can use the Manfrotto Lite-Tite Swivel Umbrella Adapter B&H # MA026.

question
I'm confused about Chrome-plated variant (152$) Vs Black variant(124$). The price is substantiallydifferent. Is there really a big advantage by going into Chrome plated versionwhen it comes to durability and sturdiness? or black version is just as good in the sturdiness ?
The functionality is virtually identical. Cosmetically, the black will scratch more readily.
