Nikon AF-4 overview

  • 1Description

The AF-4 Gelatin filter holder from Nikon is designed to attach to the front of a Nikon lens directly on or by the optional lens adapter and hold a 4" square filter in front of the lens element to achieve the desired effect, via the filter. The AF-4 will fit lens diameters ranging from 52-95 mm.

A 4 x 4 gelatin, resin, or glass filter up to 2 mm thick will fit into the holder. Once the filter is placed inside the filter slot and the holder has been rotated into position; simply turn the securing screw until the filter holder locks into place. To prevent the filter from falling out push the gelatin filter stopper to the side and it holds the filter securely.

    Nikon AF-4 reviews

AF-4 Gel Filter Holder is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made But Needs Adjusting Little by way of instructions. I've been using this for holding gel filters. The frames for the filters I use have had to be trimmed in width to fit the holder. I have been using this holder with several lenses by stepping up to it with adapter rings. The fit on a 95mm ring was loose so I used some electrical tape to make it fit the holder. No big deal to me, I once saw a famous trumpet player up close and he had rubber bands holding one of the valves on his trumpet closed. This is best IMO for indoor use or use in a blind.
