Nikon Soft Lens Case Overview

The Semi-Soft Case CL-L2 is designed for the larger Nikon telephoto lenses, e.g. AF-S 400 f/2.8 II, AF-S 600 f/4, AF-I 400 f/2.8. The AF-S/AF-I 400 can be stored in this case when attached to a camera body (including the digital SLR D1 and F5).

Lightweight, portable lens case
The case's parachute cloth exterior and water-resistant fastener offer protection in rain and other inclement weather
Side pockets added for greater utility
New plastic base at bottom of lens provides stability and waterproofing
Film, other items can be stored in two mesh outer side compartments
Belts on the back of the top cover can be adjusted to reduce the case length for more compact storage of lenses without camera bodies attached
An inner belt has been added to secure the lens in place

Having read all the existing reviews and the Q&As at the time I ordered this case, I still wasn't 100% certain this case would hold my Z180-600 lens with a Z9 AND TC-1.4x attached. Taking the chance, one can see the attached photo is clear evidence that the case is more than capable of handling that combination with room to spare in the event I want to attach the larger TC-2.0x. I will admit, if your intention is to use it to carry ONLY the lens, then it will look a little bit like the lens has been swallowed by a whale. This is a very nicely made case. It comes with three different pads that attach to the inside of the case with Velcro and offer excellent options for securing the lens. I highly recommend this case for its space, protective padding, and ease of access.

Yes, it will fit nicely, you may have to remove 1 section of padding.

No, the Nikon CL-L2 Soft Case is not designed for that. As an alternative, the Ruggard Alpine 600 Lens Backpack for DSLR and 600/800mm Lens (B&H # RULBB1600B) will fit the Nikon Z8 and Nikon Z 180-600 lens.

Yes, the Nikon CL-L2 Soft Case for 400mm, 500mm and 600mm will fit the Nikon 180-600mm lens. It is a few inches wider than the lens though.

Yes it will fit the Sony lens since both the Sony and Nikon 400mm f2.8 lenses are almost exactly the same size.

You could use the CL-L2 case for the Nikon AF 300mm f/2.8. The case will be on the bigger size, but it would work.
