Key Features
- F-Mount Lens/FX Format
- Aperture Range: f/1.8 to f/22
- Super Integrated Coating
- Rounded 7-Blade Diaphragm
As simple as it is versatile, the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D from Nikon is a compact normal-length prime lens. Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in a variety of lighting conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for isolating focus. A Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements, and reduces lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy when working in bright and backlit conditions. Also, a rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Will autofocus work on this lens with a Nikon D3300?
If not, what would be a similar lens that would allow autofocus?
No, this D series lens will not autofocus with cameras in the D3000 or D5000 series. AF-S lenses like the 50mm 1.8G will autofocus on the D3300. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/766516-USA/Nikon_2199_AF_S_Nikkor_50mm_f_1_8G.html

question
Will the auto focus on this lens work on a D5300?
Unfortunately no, it would be manual focus on the D5300. The D5300 requires lenses that have a focus motor built into the lens. Nikon refers to them as the AF-S series lenses. You can use the 50mm AF-S lens instead. Please see the following link:http://bhpho.to/1bhjeTyThe 50mm f1.8 G lens is an AF-S series so it will auto focus with the D5300 camera.

Can I change the aperture manually for use on my legacy manual Nikon FM camera? will this even mount on my FM film camera?
As the Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Lens has a built-in aperture ring, yes, you may manually control the aperture on the lens when using the lens on the Nikon FM 35mm Film SLR Camera.

question
does this work with the d3200?
The AF 50mm f\/1.8D lens is compatible with the D3200, though autofocus will not be supported; you will need to manually focus the lens. If autofocus is a must, you would need one of the AF-S lenses, such as the AF-S 50mm f\/1.8G lens (B&H # NI5018GAF).

question
I will be using a Canon 7d with the Nikon 50mm f1.8 D lens, and I was wondering if someone could tell me of a reliable adapter that I should use? I have heard some horror stories with certain adapters getting stuck.
In my opinion, you should buy a Canon 50mm instead of an adapter. I would like to share a detail about the 50mm f1.8mm: it doesn't permit to use the AE-L/AF-L button to lock focus, for an mathematical issue. It annoys me, I'd rather get a f1.4mm.
