Impact CRK-4272 Overview

  • 1Description

This Impact Five-in-One Collapsible Reflector Kit eliminates the need for multiple reflectors, silks and solids. The reflector features a removable, reversible cover which allows for five uniquely functional surfaces in three separate configurations: Silver, for crisp, cool fill, Soft-Gold for warmer fill, Black for eliminating unwanted reflections, and Solid White for softer fill. Remove the cover completely and reveal a single translucent panel for soft, diffused lighting effects

Suggested use: Ideal for a full length 1-2 adult portrait vertically, 3-4 person portrait horizontally.

Lightweight silfoil style, circular, steel framed reflector system.
Folds conveniently into a disk one-third its in-use size.
Includes handy, tear resistant nylon carrying pouch.

    Impact CRK-4272 Reviews

    5-in-1 Collapsible Oval Reflector (42 x 72-) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 144.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value to quality This is a good reflector. I use it to shade my subjects from harsh sun and to reflect directional lighting. I find the gold side to give a really nice glow. 5-in-1 is great if you can only afford 1 reflector and its large enough for anything. Its a little heavy and in a good wind its hard to keep flat but what do you want?? this thing is huge!I have had no problems with the zippers or fitting the skins over it. They fit snug but dont disstort the frame. The bag is cheap compared to the quality of the reflector and the carry handle is no more than a loop of material. There are no instructions so if you have never used a foldable reflector your in for some fun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Little disappointed This was my first collapsible reflector. Until now I wasusing home made ones, so I wanted to get the most bang formy buck. I went for the large oval 5 in 1 with the matchingstand and sandbag. The stand and sandbag I found to begreat and will probably use with some of my home madereflectors. The reflector turned out to not hold its shapevery well. Problems Encountered: The frame has the translucent material attached and itexpands out nicely. The let down is when I place the coverover the frame to produce one of the reflectors. The coveris just slightly too small. When I zip it up, it forces theframe to bend and bow. Maybe this is why most of thereflectors are round and not oval.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing short of great I use this to direct some ambient light to the models. I like how big it is and you can get all the light you want on the model. Things that aren't so great is that when you first get it open, it is hard to fold back into a circle when your done. I was lucky to have experienced photographers on site to help me figure it out. One photographer showed me how to do it on my own, just in case I had no one around to help me and so i don't look like an idiot trying to get it folded. I think a small instruction should accompany this item. Other than that, it does the job and other photographers loved it so much, they are thinking about ordering it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impact 42x72 Oval Reflector - Whoa! Boom! This thing will throw some serious light. I needed a larger one for shooting more than one person, like groups of 3 or 4. Your assistant may have to feather the reflector away slightly if the fill is too strong, or back up, maybe to the next county! Kidding aside, this thing is great. I had to watch a few YouTube videos before I could fold it back up. The behind the back method works for me. The metal band that makes up the frame may be a little uncomfortable to hang on to for the assistant, but hey, it builds character. I needed a big reflector, and this delivers... and for a great price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Big Sometimes you need a reflector that is just a bit larger than one you might use for photography. You can mount the reflector on a light stand like the Impact Multiboom Light Stand/Reflector Holder that has clips. Just make sure you use a sandbag for the stand because the reflector does have some weight. One of the most common uses I like to use it for is diffusion outside, since it is so big it give your talent a little bit more room to move compare to a small reflector. It seems to be very durable and can take the abuse. And the zippers seem to be well made, I have never had them go off track in the 3 months I have used it.Of course the small ones are easy to collapse. But this one take a couple of tries. So far I must say I have been impressed by the Impact products I have review so far. This is single most cost effective lighting tool you will own.If you want to watch my review it on video, check out my site learningdslrvideo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great reflector! The main reason I bought this reflector was for its size. I needed something to light up a full body, and this does the job. I actually just used it on the beach and lit up a family of 5 for some portrait shots. Also used it as a diffuser in direct sunlight and got great results. The silver side is very hard and bright in direct sun, so you may have to have some distance between the reflector and subject, but it's nice to have that in low light situations. Also, some people have complained about folding it, and I had the same problem when I opened it up for the first time. But- after watching a youtube video on how to fold a large reflector it's actually a piece of cake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality, Performs As Advertised I bought this to complement my 42 round reflector, which is great for portrait work but not big enough for full bodies or couples. I used it on a senior photo shoot recently (see attached image) and was pleased with the results. I haven't used it as a diffuser yet but am looking forward to an opportunity to do so, especially since the 42 round reflector/diffuser isn't quite big enough to do the job. The quality seems just fine, but time will tell. The removable, reversible reflectors were fairly easy to change and the zippers seemed to be of good quality. The only drawback is folding it to fit in its case, but I figured it out and think that practice will make it easier over time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great I love the size of this reflector/diffuser. I strongly recommend using is with some sort of arm (we use the Wescott arm- although it isn't a perfect fit). It's large size is perfect for a 3/4 shot of a couple or even smaller groups. Definitely need an assistant to hold it. You could probably set it up on a stand (be sure to sandbag the heck out of it!), but an assistant makes it much easier to move/align. And if there is any breeze, it's size makes it double as a sail!

Fold it in half like a big taco and twist and it should fold back into it's storage position.

Are gold and silver facing out at same time? And black and white out at same time? Or are matte and metallic out at same times?

Silver and white. Then flip around the cover and it is gold and black. The inside is a scrim

I just received my impact 5 in 1 reflector, I feel like it is too tight to get the gold/silver color cover on to the translucent reflector. I had to squeeze the ring holding the translucent reflector, to get the zip closed. Is this normal? Please suggest.

The official B&H does show how to fold the Impact 42x72 . Go to this video on YouTube Also don't use your body. If you're folding it right it naturally forms into a circle.
