Hi. I use Kimwipes on my glasses, cameras and lenses. They seem to be paper based but it doesn't say on the box. They are antistatic and don't leave residue (ie break down) even when wet. I have had no problems for the uses you describe. Additionally we use them for all delicate tasks in our laboratory at work and have no issues there either.

Although the kimwipes website says, it won't scratch delicate optics when wet, I have never used them for photographc lenses, due to the fragility of the coated surfaces. If you feel them when they are dry, they feel a little rough, so definitelyy do not use them dry.
