FLM CB-18E Reviews
Easy takedown for easy cleaning!
I use this for a micro camcorder or sometimes a 7 monitor, very handy and has worked well in the past. However the other day it was behaving strangely (I would tighten it and it would fall off to one side and not the other....). I thought the unit had failed but I found that removing the top platform (it unscrews), then removing the knob all the way, then the bottom falls out and the ball will come out the bottom also. Everything can be cleaned and checked for grit or damage, etc. SO NICE!!!! There was some grit in mine causing the unpredictable behavior. Cleaned and works like new (do not add lube! these are intended to be dry, but must be clean!). I have a bunch of the high-end FLM items and they are excellent.
FLM is the only brand of ball-head to trust
I generally use larger FLM ball-heads, but anything they make has a superior fit/finish, and works better than you can imagine. I've used a lot of competing brands, and *they* simply aren't *this.* In my opinion, the only viable brands of ball-head are, in no particular order: FLM, FLM, or either FLM.
