I bought three of these to insert in my Pelican 1040 case that hold my external hard drives and they fit perfectly. I love these, they hold my external hardrive in place and protects them from the sun.

I bought this insert for my Pelican 1040 case with the intention of custom fitting a smartphone inside. While the material was both high quality and easy to separate, I was extremely disappointed to find that once inserted, the water tight gasket on the case no longer sealed. (Evidently it requires the rubber liner that comes with the 1040.) If you are planning to use this in a dry environment, this insert will work great for you. If you are looking to keep your case water tight, I'd advise you to stick with the original liner.
