Impact FL500 overview

  • 1Description

This is an Impact Tungsten Two-Floodlight Kit with 6' Stands built around the Impact 10" reflector unit with a high-heat ceramic socket. Each light's wooden control handle stays cool, and each light has a cord with in-line switch. The kit includes two light stands and two White Translucent (33") umbrellas.

  • 2 x Impact White Translucent Umbrella (33")

Umbrellas soften, broaden, and diminish the light output of any flash light source. Umbrellas with a white interior will soften and weaken light more than an umbrella with a silver lining. A white umbrella without a black backing may also be used as a makeshift softbox, although the use of the light will not be as efficient as with a lightbox.

Choosing umbrella size is determined by the size of the subject, and the strength of the light supply being used. Choosing an umbrella surface is as subjective as choosing a paint and brush.

This Impact 33" White Translucent Umbrella is suggested for use in head-and-shoulders portraits for one or two persons.

Impact FL500 reviews

Tungsten Two-Floodlight Kit with 6' Stands & Umbrella Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consider adding a bag and 500 watt bulbs I am pleased with the quality. The bulbs it comes with are 250 watt with an average live listed of 20 hours. For about $ bucks each, you can add 500 watt bulbs with an average live of 60 hours. The sockets are rated to support 500 watts, and it seems to work fine. The sockets, reflectors, and bulbs all get very hot very quickly, but the wooden handles insulate you when you adjust the light. You'll need a bag to move the kit around. I bought the Impact WB1119 for under fifty, and it holds everything in the kit plus some extensions cords without too much additional room to spare. Probably the best wattage-for-the-price in a kit you're likely to find.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Basic Kit Let's be honest, you pay for what you get. The kit is a good 500w kit of continuous lighting. This is a kit to get if you want to start getting into studio lighting without paying studio price. The flood lights are cheaply made and the metal dish easily bends, I had one show up deformed that I had to bend back into shape. The umbrellas are cheap and the stands are cheap. This is all things I willingly paid for and worth that money. If you want some control over lighting, get this kit as a stepping stone to an studio kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kit for the money After reading reviews on several light kits I decided to get this one and noticing it does not come with a bag I did what another reviewer did here I brought the Impact WB1119 bag/case. You cant go wrong with this Light Kit and also purchasing the case. Very easy to setup, light enough to carry everything in one bag/case. I purchased online and picked up in store with no problems at all. The lamp shades are thin aluminum so they can be easily bent or warped if not careful but just bend it back to shape and your all ok. Bulbs get hot instantly lol so dont go grabbing them, just let them cool down even if on for a minute. Used recently for a wedding and they were just fine when I needed them. No directions but again very simple to setup. Im happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far great Was worried about them being cheap but they seem to be pretty sturdy and put out a ton of light! I think they're going to work out great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light kit I bought this kit to light some home photos and video submissions, and overall it works well. I was concerned that the light might be too harsh, but with the umbrellas it is perfect. The only downfall, as others have mentioned, is the lack of a carrying/storage case.
